Families in or connected to the UAE sit UCAT at Pearson VUE centres in Dubai and Abu Dhabi when applying to UK medicine and dentistry. We coach the same official four-subtest exam, with a plan that respects Gulf school calendars and the international test fee.

UAE-based or UAE-bound students applying to UK medical/dental schools, and India-based families who will travel to sit in the UAE. This is the UCAT exam at UAE centres — not a separate UAE university entrance paper.

International sitting fee
Tests taken outside the UK use the overseas fee (set each year by the Consortium). We do not collect that fee — you pay Pearson/UCAT directly.

A computer-based aptitude test for undergraduate medicine and dentistry. It ranks how you read, decide, calculate, and judge professional situations — not your school science syllabus.

VR · Verbal Reasoning

Can you pull a precise conclusion from a written passage, without using outside knowledge?
11 passages, four questions each. This is usually the most time-pressured cognitive section.
True / False / Can’t tell
Judge a statement against the passage only. If the text does not settle it, the answer is can’t tell — even if the claim sounds plausible.
Critical reasoning
Pick the option the passage supports (or complete a stem). Inference, tone, and “which statement is false” items sit here.
DM · Decision Making

Logic, arguments, and data — each item is standalone, so a miss does not cascade.
Since 2025 this section is longer (more items and more time). Endurance matters as much as method.

Rules and elimination: which of the four statements must be true?
Syllogisms
Given statements that are true, mark proposed conclusions true or false (often drag-and-drop).
Interpreting information
A short graph, table, or text — then one four-option question.
Strongest argument
A proposal plus four replies; choose the strongest, not the loudest.
Venn diagrams
Read overlaps and exclusions; four options.
Probability
Fractions, percentages, or outcomes that add to 1 — logic first, calculator second.

Problem-solving with numbers. The maths is school-level; the clock is not.
Some items share a data set; others stand alone. All have four options. The on-screen calculator is a tool — using it on every sum costs time.

SJT · Situational Judgement

What should a student or junior clinician do? Empathy, honesty, and patient safety — not sympathy as a slogan.
Several questions can share one scenario. This score is reported separately from the 900–2700 total.
Appropriateness
Rate an action from very appropriate through to very inappropriate.
Importance
How much should this factor weigh: very important, important, minor, or not at all.
Least / most
From three actions or factors, pick the most and the least appropriate or important.
Scoring
- VR + DM + QR each scale to 300–900. Added together that is 900–2700.
- SJT is reported in bands 1–4 (band 1 is strongest). It is not added to the 2700 total.
- No penalty for wrong answers. If you are stuck, flag, guess, and move.
- Schools use the score differently — cut-offs, interview ranking, or a later tie-break. There is no universal pass mark.
How we prepare you
1. Learn the formats
Know every question type before you chase speed. VR scanning, DM puzzle types, QR calculator habits, SJT rating scales.
2. Practise on the clock
Short timed sets beat untimed volume. Build automaticity on the items that currently steal seconds.
3. Sit full mocks
The paper is four back-to-back sections. Mocks train stamina and the flag-and-guess rhythm of the real computer test.
4. Review the misses
A weak subtest gets extra drills. A mock score is a map, not a verdict.

Exam questions people ask first
How long should I prepare?
Six weeks is a realistic minimum if you can work most days. Many applicants start months earlier with shorter daily sessions. A single crammed month is a gamble, not a plan.
UCAT, UKCAT, and UCAT ANZ — what is the difference?
UKCAT was the old name. UCAT is the UK consortium test. UCAT ANZ is the Australia/New Zealand sitting: same style of paper, separate registration. ANZ results can sometimes be used for UK applications; UK results are not used for ANZ schools. You may sit only once per calendar year.
Is this the same as GAMSAT?
No. GAMSAT is for some graduate-entry courses and includes science knowledge plus writing. UCAT is multiple-choice aptitude only.
What does the test cost?
The Consortium sets a UK fee and a higher overseas fee each year (recently around £70 in the UK and £115 outside). You pay Pearson VUE, not us. Bursaries exist for eligible UK candidates — see the official scheme.
Can I sit it twice in one year?
No. Once per calendar year. You can sit again in a later year if you reapply.

How it works
Step 1
Confirm you need UCAT
UK medicine/dentistry almost always yes. Some UAE universities use their own test instead — we will not coach the wrong paper.
Step 2
Book a UAE (or India) centre
Choose Dubai, Abu Dhabi, or an India centre if that is simpler. The exam content is the same; the venue is what changes.
Step 3
Prep to the sitting date
Work backwards from your booked slot. Late changes are hard once the window is busy.
Common questions
Do UAE medical universities all require UCAT?
No. Several UAE schools run their own admissions tests. UCAT UAE here means sitting the official UCAT in the UAE (usually for UK applications). Always check the university’s current admissions page.
Can I sit in Dubai if I study in India?
Often yes, if you can travel for the appointment and your ID matches the booking. Many students simply sit in India instead. We help you pick the easier centre.
Do you visit homes in Dubai?
Our scheduled home visits are in Bhopal, Rewa, Gwalior, and Jabalpur (head office Indore). UAE-based families should contact us for a workable plan.
When is the test window?
The UK cycle is typically July to late September, with registration in May. Confirm the current year on ucat.ac.uk before you plan travel.
